'Modern' machines
Modern pachinko machines are generally defined (as used on this site and many others) as :
'..all fully electric, vertically inclined skill machines, featuring nails and balls, mass-manufactured on/after 1980 in Japan, using electronic ball shooters' ..(phew!!...)
Modern machines began their period in 1980. This was when most mass-manufactured pachinkos had electronic ball shooters introduced. This 'Modern' period continues to the present day and all machines manufactured now are still known as 'Moderns' (with a few sub classifications under that like 'classic').
However, the recent move away from the Masamura Gauge nail standard has me perplexed and fearful over Pachinko's current direction. I am less inclined to be interested in *any* new machine, hanemono or not, because of this.
So the 'golden years' of machines I like have tended to be within the 'modern' 20 year period of 1980-2000. Of course *some* interesting machines have been produced in the last 10 years, and they will be featured here too. But generally, you'll find information on this site to do with hanemono, kenrimono and occasionally, arepachi/ arrange ball (like 'Arredin') from the years 1980 right thru to the year 2000.
